Self-Care Series: A Restful Recipe

I’d like to share a recipe with you for a tea that I like to craft whenever I’m too wrapped up in my thoughts or too anxious to fall asleep. After an eventful or stressful day, this tea helps me find my way back to peace for a restful night.

Lavender Chamomile Anise tea

When brewing your own teas, make sure that the herbs you are using are safe to consume, and that they are coming from a trustworthy, food-grade source. You’ll need a reusable loose-leaf tea infuser.

This tea has just a few simple components ~

Lavender: Lavender is known for its calming properties. It’s the perfect ingredient for any peaceful night.

Chamomile: Found in almost every “sleep” tea, chamomile is not only relaxing, but it has been used for centuries as a protectant against nightmares.

Star Anise: Offering just a hint of liquorice flavor, anise is very soothing for the throat, and is said to aid in digestion.

While this combination alone is effective and tastes lovely, I always like to add a splash of So Delicious Coconut Creamer in French Vanilla. While the tea is delicious on its own, adding just a dash of cream makes it just that much more comforting.


Per cup of tea:

1-1.5 stars of anise

1 tsp lavender

½-1tsp chamomile (chamomile tends to dominate other flavors, so I prefer to use just ½ of a tsp)

(optional) 3 whole cloves, I just like the flavor! Clove is considered an anti-inflammatory, and is a symbol of good fortune

Extra: 2 tsp - 1 tbs of vanilla plant-based creamer

Allow your tea to steep for 5-10 minutes to your preference <3
